WONDER GOAL FOR NAT BUT MILLERS HAVE TO SETTLE FOR A POINT
Carlton Town extended their unbeaten run to 15 games and only one defeat in 19 games on a lovely spring afternoon at Stoke Lane in front of 233.
Nat Watson scored a wonderful goal from near the half way line, lofting the ball over Brighouse keeper Shea Callister who was off his line.
Brighouse responded after Lamin had hit the post for the Millers and it was Danny Edwards who got the equaliser with a fine header and that’s the way the score stayed.
There was obviously a little disappointment that the Millers could not claim all 3 points, but both Nat Watson and Tommy Brookbanks conceded post match that Brighouse deserved to get something from the game and in fairness could also easily have won it had they not missed a great late chance.
While Carlton are fighting to get into the playoffs, Brighouse are fighting to stay up and the 1-1 draw leaves everything in the balance.
Carlton have two very tough games next up indeed, with champions elect Cleethorpes visiting Stoke Lane next Saturday, before an away trip to second placed Dunston the following Saturday.
Carlton are still 8th in the table with 65 points from 38 games, with North Ferriby and Stocksbridge 7th and 6th respectively with 66 points and Newton Aycliffe in a playoff place in 5th on 68 points. Belper are 4th on 69 and Emley AFC 3rd on 71 points behind Dunston in 2nd on 75 points.
Cleethorppes have a clear lead at the top on 82 points.
Brighouse Town meanwhile are 18th, One place and one point outside the drop zone.
John Desmond Bryson was on Carlton Town Tv duty after the game and spoke to both Nat and Tommy in the Chuck Fowler Suite.
