TWO DATES FOR YOUR DIARY AHEAD OF BIG STOCKTON CLASH !
Carlton Town are really looking forward to hosting top of the table Stockton at Stoke Lane this Saturday and welcome Match Sponsors Gilbert Wealth and Match Ball Sponsors Motors For You to the Bill Stokeld Stadium this weekend.
Programme Editior Joe has produced an insert and a wrap round to cover the original programme and at only £2, it will provide value indeed.
We caught up with joint manager Mark Harvey this week who told us one or two injuries had cleared up and that the team were eager and ready to go again for what is now a hectic run in.
Off the pitch meanwhile, Boatsy and Mick have been organising the end of season speakers event which is crucial to the club’s revenue stream, particularly given all the home Saturday postponements this season.
The club are delighted to comfirm that current International Cricket Umpire David Millns (pictured with our former centre half Matt Millns) who was part of last years Ashes is our very special guest speaker on Friday 3rd May. David spoke to supporters in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar at a Carlton Town fixture recently and went down a treat. He will be joined for part of the evening by former England selector and current Director of Cricket at Nottinghamshire Mick Newell.
Chicken Curry, chips and rice are on the menu as part of a two course meal and tickets are priced at the usual £40 each meaning tables of 6 are £240 and tables of 10 are £400.
Tickets and tables can be booked by contacting Boatsy on social media or by telephone on 07907 064189, the club has a great record of hosting cricket speakers evenings in the summer and are excited about their latest offering with a man in David Millns at the heart of international cricket.
In other news, although official confirmation is still awaited, this website understands that the away trip to Merthyr Town Fc for the summer pre season friendly this year is likely to be on Saturday 6th July.
Due to the extended length of time this summer that the pitch is being handed back to the groundsman and contractors, in order to get it right for the 2024/2025 season, Carlton are minded to secure home friendlies on Saturday 2oth July and Saturday 27th July. The Millers preferred date for the trip was 13th July, but unfortunately this did not work for our friends at Merthyr, so the 6th July has been in principle agreed.
The club are planning to run a coach to the game and will stop for 2 hours after the game to socialise and enjoy after match drinks if everything is confirmed, we also understand that the return trip will be £20 for any supporters wishing to join the players and coaching staff on the coach.
The reason for putting this out now is that we understand that supporters were holding off booking holidays on the basis of wanting to travel down for the game, knowing it was our year to travel down to Wales this time round and we know some supporters will probably make a weekend of it.
Focus for now however is at Stoke Lane with Stockton the visitors this Saturday and Dunston on Tuesday 12th March 7.45pm, grounstaff have made us aware that help may be required on the pitch for the Dunston clash given the forecast is set for another turn for the worst, watch this space and Thankyou in anticipation as we enter a crucial stage of the campaign.
