TNT, SEXY DI, PAINFUL FINISH AND NOTTINGHAM EXPRESS CARRIERS HELP RECOGNISE 135 NOT OUT FOR KHYLE SARGENT
Another Saturday at Stoke Lane and the headline feels as though we are hosting Sticky’s blog as we move into February and report on another day packed full of football and much more.
The Howard Mitchell Sportsbar filled up quickly following the news that Carlton had agreed a deal with TNT to show the lunch time premier league game each and every Saturday for the next 12 months and the first game being Nottingham Forest v Brighton and the score 7-0 to the Trick Trees meant the Clubhouse was not only busy, but buzzing as well with many Millers supporters also Forest supporters.
The second act of the day was a lady who has attended many a function at Stoke Lane over the years and as long been affectionately called Sexy Di by our very own Boatsy among many others, was on Carlton Town Tv at the City Ground scratching off the next big Football Super Card for Hospitality for two at Trent Bridge, a prize worth around £350.
The winner was Millers supporter Mick Greenwood, he was a popular winner indeed, Mick take seats at nearly every speaker’s event, always supports the club’s golf day and as often carried out repairs to equipment at Stoke Lane completely free of charge as well as being a member of the 200 club.
The next act of the day was for the Millers to put in a performance against Grimsby Borough and indeed they did, but despite taking a 1-0 lead through Lamin Manneh, Nat Watson saw his penalty saved which would have made it 2-0 and the Millers went on to miss a number of key chances to put the game to bed.
Higton was superb in the Grimsby goal and Felix in the Millers goal made a fine save when called upon himself, but could do little about Dean Freeman’s late bullet header into his own goal.
It was unfortunate for Freeman who has been superb all season, but in reality, the failure to be ruthless in front of goal had cost the Miller’s and not for the first time this season and 1-1 it finished.
Still time for a special presentation in the bar as the Millers start a series of presentations recognising those who have made a significant number of appearances for the club.
A massive thankyou to our very own Vice President Stuart Scott representing Nottingham Express Carriers Ltd, who have kindly sponsored the superb trophies and to the anonymous supporter whose company have sponsored the night out for two for the recipients of these awards starting with the superb Khyle Sargent (pictured) 135 not out.
All the big action and interviews are below including Tommy’s after match thoughts after the 1-1 draw with Grimsby Borough.
