THE FINAL ROLLOCKING DOES THE TRICK FOR TOMMY AT STOKE LANE
Carlton Town had lost twice already this season to already relegated Sherwood Colliery and when 1-0 down at half time and Carlton lack lustre in the extreme during that first half, it looks liked a familiar story was about to unfold against this particular opposition.
Joint Manager Tommy Brookbanks who was overseeing his final game from the dugout at Stoke Lane walked in the dressing room to deliver what he described as his final rollicking to the players, Tommy did not want to sign off on the back of that first half display.
The players thankfully from a Millers perspective, responded positively indeed and in the second half, showed why they had gone on a 15 game unbeaten run, scoring 4 fine goals and none better that Ollie Clark’s equaliser although Niall Davie would argue his first goal was up there to.
His second goal was a well taken penalty, before on loan Notts County striker Diego Edwards scored his first goal for the Millers, a far post header after a fine cross from skipper and Man of the Match Niall Davie who was presented with his bottle of Prosecco, courtesy of Retro Sweet Kings after the game in the Clubhouse Sportsbar.
We are sure more tributes to Tommy will follow in the coming days and weeks and more information will be revealed about his new role going forward to, but for now the Millers are up to 7th and have one more away trip this season on Saturday to Bishop Auckland for Tommy’s final game in the dugout.
Special praise for the supporters on a rain soaked afternoon with another gate of over 200 who were vocal and showed their appreciation of Tommy, not just for this season but for the many that have proceeded it in his time as manager and more recently joint manager with Mark at Stoke Lane.
There were presentations in the bar for Ollie Clark and Lawrence Stuart for reaching appearance milestones and our thanks to Nottingham Express Carriers Ltd and an annoyimous supporter for sponsoring the presentations.
Finally time to hear from Tommy Brookbanks after his final game in the dugout at Stoke Lane.
