TALE OF THREE PENALTIES AND AN ALEX HOWES SPECIAL
Carlton Town made it two league wins back to back with a 2-1 win over Sheffield Fc at Stoke Lane on Tuesday evening following on from Saturday’s 2-1 win at Pontefract.
The keenly fought contest was a tale of three penalties, Khyle Sargent saw one saved in the first half by Sheffield keeper Jordan Pierrepoint after a handball, but had no chance with Romella Nangle’s spot kick in the second half after David Adegbola was pulled back, although the Sheffield players argued the foul had begun outside the box, so should have been a free kick.
The third penalty went the way of Sheffield after Luke Mangham was Brought down by Carlton keeper Felix, a decision the Millers thought was harsh. Mangham smashed it home.
In between, a fantastic volley from Alex Howes from a Niall Davie corner had given the Millers a 2-0 lead , so the late penalty from Sheffield meant a nervy finish for Carlton.
Match Sponsor MSR Newsgroup voted Alex Howes man of the match and he is pictured being presented with his prize by club legend Ian White.
Carlton are 4th in the table with two wins from two and on Saturday entertain Maltby Main in the Fa Cup at Stoke Lane.
Man of the match Alex and Tommy both spoke to Carlton Town Tv after the fine 2-1 win.
