STOKE LANE NEWS ROUND UP AS WE MOVE INTO LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS OF THE SEASON
First and foremost the club have asked us to put out a Thankyou to everyone who turned out on Saturday morning to try and once again repeat the feat as was pulled off v Bridlington a week or so earlier, but the significant rain fall for most of Friday and in the early hours of Saturday morning, pretty much put paid to any chance of a game, even though the Millers had covered the worst area and the pitch failed a 10,50am inspection.
The Millers now once again with the help of advisers at Trent Bridge will do everything they can to ensure Saturday’s fixture against run away table toppers Stockton gets the go ahead for this coming Saturday 9th March which is kindly being sponsored by Gilbert Wealth. Please be aware, we may again ask for some help.
The club were hoping with the forecast of three dry days to play Ossett on Tuesday night and although the league agreed to the proposal, Ossett didn’t, given the short notice as was their right to do so.
Carlton are awaiting confirmation of rearranged games and will hopefully put out a press release in the coming days.
In other news Carlton are delighted to announce that their fixture on Saturday 6th April will be a Foodbank game with all sponsorship packages for the day taken up by our friends at Bitcoin and former Nottingham Forest European Cup winner, manager and Chairman Frank Clarke will be our special pre match guest. Frank is pictured with Ian Store-Moore and supporter and sponsor Doug from “Motors for you” the last time he appeared at the Bill Stokeld Staduim.
The club are sad to hear news of the death of Shepshed President Peter Bull. Carlton Town Vice Chairman Barry North and Carlton Town Tv’s John Bryson will represent the club at his funeral in Loughborough next Wednesday.
Given the problems with the pitch this season, it will be handed back to the groundsman earlier than usual at the end of the season for remedial works. The Millers usually hold Charity matches deep into May, but this season the last game on the pitch will be on Sunday 12th May.
That does not mean we will continue with our community commitments and after the big Ukraine day on Sunday 5th May, Punjabi Forest will be playing a Carlton Town x1 on Monday 6th May, managed by Chairman Mick Garton and Boatsy, before a big raffle draw in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar.
On the afternoon of Sunday 12th May, Jewson will take over the Bill Stokeld Stadium raising money for Band of Builders and Brinsley Animal Rescue , once again a press release for this event will also be released in the coming days.
Finally the lack of Saturday fixtures at the Bill Stokeld Stadium over a significant number of weeks has had a severe inpact on the club’s finances and Boatsy will be comfirming details of a speakers event shortly to try and help bridge the gap, in what is the clubs worst ever season for home Saturday postponements, the club with the help of our friends at Trent Bridge will do all they can to get the remaining fixtures on.
The club would like to thank their supporters for their patience and backing during these challenging times.
