ROGER SMITH EXCLUSIVE AHEAD OF GOLF DAY !
We caught up with Club President Roger Smith today just days away from Carlton Town’s annual Golf Day at Oakmere Park this Friday 23rd September.
Roger pictured with the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup of which Carlton Town are the holders, was back from a short break on Saturday and took in Carlton’s away trip to Bridlington.
” It was an enjoyable game to be honest, I thought we bossed the first half and they got the upper hand in the second half, but overall a draw was a fair result” said the Club President.
“Injuries to Nat Watson and Danny Elliott in the first half certainly didn’t help us, but it a lovely place , a big pitch and I remember the last time we played here against Scarborough in a League Cup Semi Final , we lost 5-0, so it was pleasing to keep a clean sheet, Brad Wells hit the woodwork, Alex Howes missed a good chance and Bridlington also hit the post. Credit to Both keepers as well and in particular the Bridlington keeper who made a couple of really good saves” continued the President.
“Looking ahead , we have the Golf Day on Friday which has been a challenge to organise this year, but I think we have 14 teams and with kind Sponsorship from Marstons Brewery and Msr Newsgroup, it should be a cracking day and one we are looking forward to” concluded the President.
Carlton are away at Lincoln United this coming Saturday 24th September in the next round of the Fa Trophy, the club are hoping a few fans will travel, given the closer proximity to the opposition than in recent away treks.
