POOR NIGHT AT THE OFFICE FOR THE MILLERS AS CLEETHORPES WIN AND GO TOP
- Top Nottinghamshire DJ Sanj Beri was among the Millers supporters making the Tuesday night trip to Cleethorpes, with many supporters arriving at the seaside town earlier in the day to enjoy the beach, donkeys, seagulls, fish and chips and ice cream on what was a warm and beautiful afternoon.
It was however top Cleethorpes striker Adam Haw who stole the show for the home side, with a clinical hatrick as the Millers suffered their first defeat of the new season and dropped to 8th in the Northern Premier East League.
Carlton can have few complaints, Cleethorpes were the better side on the night and well deserved their 3-0 win, with Carlton failing to trouble the Cleethorpes keeper throughout the contest, despite a decent spell of pressure in the first half when the Millers forced a flurry of corners that were well dealt with by the Cleethorpes back line.
To add to Carlton’s woes, Nat Watson received 2 yellow cards in quick succession and was sent off, Cleethorpes fans were quick to remind the Millers fans that the same player had suffered the same fate on his last visit to the ground two years ago.
That summed up the Millers night and Joint Manager Mark Harvey did not shy away from the fact that Carlton had been second best, when he spoke to Josh Hodgson from Carlton Town Tv after the game.
Mark’s interview will follow in due course.
While it was a bad night at the office for the Millers, it was an excellent one for Cleethorpes who go top of the league with 7 points from their first 3 games.
The Millers will dust themselves down and go again on Saturday, this defeat should not deflect from the excellent start they have had to the season with fine performances against Bridlington and Sheffield Fc, before the excellent Fa Cup win over AFC Mansfield on Saturday when Nat Watson was the hero.
A big weekend awaits the Millers with Bishop Auckland the visitors to Stoke Lane this Saturday, before the Bank Holiday Monday clash with their old friends Garforth Town in Yorkshire.
