OH MY LORD ! WHAT A SECOND HALF DISPLAY FROM MILLERS !
The phrase “Game of 2 halves” is probably an overused one in football, but Carlton Town v Chasetown on Saturday truly was and it was all done in front of a Lord.
Not only was Lord Coaker of Gedling in the house, he sponsored the match and what a match it was. Chasetown were superb in the first half and it was easy to see why they are title contenders and Carlton were hanging on by their finger nails, aided by some fine goalkeeping and some resolute and at times desperate defending.
0-0 at half time was a result indeed and in the second half, the tables turned and for the last half hour, Carlton upped the anti led by Alex Howes, who was driving the Millers forward at every opportunity and the Millers scored two superbly worked goals with Arron Opoku first and Arron O’ Connor second getting on the end of two fine crosses.
Alex Howes was at the forefront of everything in that game changing spell and deservedly received his man of the match award from Lord Coaker and our other VIP guest, former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper and Cheif Scout Alan Hill, who spoke brilliantly in the bar before the game.
The afternoon started with Blackpool v Nottingham Forest in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar and the healthy contingent of Forest Supporters were in good spirits indeed after seeing Forest win 4-1.
The bar was buzzing throughout the afternoon, with fans of both clubs mixing and everyone enjoying the pre Match build up with Alan Hill.
It was the Millers fans who were celebrating at the end after the 2-0 win which still leaves Carlton with an outside chance of gate crashing the playoffs.
Massive Credit to Chasetown Chairman Steve Jones who brought some tickets for the Carlton v Nottingham Forest clash and donated the tickets to Carlton youngsters.
Final word to the Lord , Lord Vernon Coaker that is, who spoke to Millers Chairman Mick Garton for Carlton Town Tv.
