NIALL OUT OF HOSPITAL BUT MILLERS TOLD THEY HAVE TO REPLAY GAME THIS THURSDAY !

Carlton Town were relieved to report earlier today that Popular and long serving midfielder Niall Davey had been released from hospital after being taken in by the emergency services on Tuesday evening after collapsing during the game v Pontefract Collieries after only 31 minutes with The Millers 1-0 down.

Davie went down earlier in the first half after being caught by an elbow, but after treatment carried on for several minutes before going down again after a brilliant run and cross.

It became clear to the referee who this website understands dealt with the situation brilliantly, that there was a real problem and concern and so it proved , with play held up for 40 minutes with Paramedics arriving on the scene concerned for Niall’s wellbeing and the game was ultimately abandoned.

He was later taken to Hospital and kept in for tests and observation, but although he can expect to have some bad headaches in the coming days, he appears by all accounts to be on the mend and is now resting at home.

One or two individuals at the club were clearly affected by Niall’s condition and fearing the worst, but we are delighted to have positive news.

Because the league finishes on Saturday, Carlton have been told they have to travel to Pontefract on Thursday night and replay the fixture, obviously without Niall, undoubtedly for many the club’s best player in recent weeks, but while the club does not want to get relegated, they would accept that every day of the week knowing that Niall is ok, he his a player whom has suffered the most from serious injuries over the last few years by some distance and a lot of club officials, team mates and management had a sleepless Tuesday night waiting for news.

The club would be grateful of any support for the return trip and obviously for Saturday’s final game against Dunston when a Nottingham Forest star from the 70’s will be their very special guest.

George Lyall will be in the house for the first time and he is really looking forward to meeting the Carlton faithful.
