NEW YEARS DAY NORTHERN PREMIER ROUNDUP FROM STOKE LANE
Carlton Town might not have been playing on New Year’s Day, but there was much to follow in the Northern Premier league.
Our former striker Alex Hardwick joined Ilkeston Town from Stockbridge at the end of November and although he was not in the team on New years Day, his new team beat Basford United 5-0 in the big local Derby at Ilkeston in front of a cracking crowd of 813 and Ilkeston are now 4th in the Premier Division.
Macclesfield continue to set the pace however in the Premier League beating Hyde United 5-2 and with an emphatic 13 point lead at the top of the table, they look nailed on for promotion.
In the Northern Premier East League where Carlton’s interest is, Cleethorpes remain top despite going down 1-0 to Grimsby Borough while second place Belper Town beat Sherwood Colliery 5-2.
Stocksbridge are 6th after beating Sheffield Fc 3-0, while Carlton remain 10th, nine points outside the playoffs and just 12 points above the relegation zone, showing how close this division is.
There were three postponements in the East League on New Years Day with Stormy weather taking hold of the country
A quick Look at the Midlands League see’s Quorn leading the way with an outstanding 64 points from 24 games with their nearest challenges Corby Town who are second on 45 points, a big gap indeed.
Carlton are at Sheffield Fc on Saturday 3pm, a trip supporters are really looking forward to.
Finally as part of this little round up, we would like to thank John Hartstone who has come forward to sponsor the Match ball for the Emley clash on February 15th and Pete Smith who is kindly Sponsoring the game on Saturday 5th April v Brighouse.
Matchday Sponsorship packages being taken up are vital to the club’s financial well being and anyone wanting to support a fixture in 2025 can contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.
Boatsy’s son Charlie celebrated his 15th Birthday on New Year’s Eve and we feel it somewhat fitting to welcome in 2025 with a classic photo of Boatsy and his beloved son with Everton Memorobilia donated to the Millers, Boatsy and Charlie were at Goodison Park on Sunday supporting Nottingham Forest, football is strange, wonderful, ironic and many more things, but something so many of us love and for good reason.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF OUR SUPPORTERS FROM EVERYONE AT THE CLUB.
