NEW CLUB CAPTAIN AT THE DEATH FOR THE MILLERS IN YORKSHIRE!

Carlton Town captain Niall Davie scored the winner for the Millers in front of a crowd of 199 at Pontefract Collieries Fc to continue the club’s excellent start to the new season after their Fa Cup win over Quorn in midweek.

Pontefract took a first half lead through Callum Nicely before Lamin Manneh equalised for the Millers in windy and trick conditions in Yorkshire. Carlton had the better of the second half without ever really looking like they were going to score a winner, but score one they did in the 94th minute through substitute, club Captain Niall Davie after Flatters in the Pontefract goal had failed to cleanly claim a Lawrence Stuart cross.

Notable results in the Northern Premier East League saw Hebburn Town win 4-0 at Grantham Town, Belper Town start their season with a 3-0 win at Grimsby Borough, Cleethorpes win 3-0 at Liversage, North Ferriby beat Newton Aycliffe 4-1 while Sheffield Fc beat Ossett United 3-1 in front of 321 in Sheffield.

Sheffield Fc are the visitors to Stoke Lane this coming Tuesday for what looks like a mouthwatering contest between the teams who are 6th and 7th in the table after the opening day games.
