MIXED FEELINGS FOLLOWING FA TROPHY DEJU VU DRAW !
There was mixed feelings following the Fa Trophy 3rd qualifying draw and a fair bit of shock that with all the teams in the hat, Carlton were once again drawn away at Nuneaton Borough.
The fantastic 2-1 win in the Fa Cup there was only a few weeks ago and the bookies odds of Carlton getting the same fixture again in the Fa Trophy would be interesting indeed.
Boatsy and Jitz had two mini buses full of people ready to attend a home game and then shoot off to the Leigh Wood fight in Sheffield. Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace would have been shown in the Millers bar at 5.30pm so it was Sod’s Law that Carlton would get an away game yet again.
A positive Josh Hodgson commented “We have beat them once , so can do it again” Mark Harvey recognised that Nuneaton would really not want to lose to the Millers twice and that Carlton would be in for a really tough game and Millers Vice Chairman Barry North pictured with President Roger Smith told us.
”Lovely club and lovely people, but I am shocked more than anything that the draw came out the way it did, I was hoping for a home tie this time if I’m honest , this is our 5th away draw in cup competitions this season and we won’t play at home again now till Tuesday 17th October after only playing at home once in the whole of September , I guess that’s the way it goes. I will do my best to get to the game this time, I’m told we were really well looked after last time by Nuneaton” concluded North.
The overwhelming reaction has been surprise and we are sure Nuneaton fans will be equally open mouthed at the way the draw has panned out, but it is what it is and the teams will resume battle on Saturday 7th October with coach travel details to follow.
