MILLERS UP TO SIXTH AFTER TIGHT WIN OVER CAMBRIDGE CITY !
A crucial goal from Natt Watson and a fantastic penalty save from Kieran Preston were the cornerstones of Carlton Town’s 1-0 win over Cambridge City in front of an excellent attendance of 160 at Stoke Lane.
The afternoon started with an Happy hour and the East Midlands Derby in the refurbished Howard Mitchell Sportsbar, that match ended all square 1-1 with Nottingham Forest scoring a late equaliser.
The focus quickly turned to matters on the pitch at Stoke Lane as the Millers lined up against a big strong looking Cambridge line up and Kieran Preston was called into action on more than one occasion in the first half, Carlton had their chances to and it was clear that the opening goal could prove crucial.
Crucial indeed, but equally crucial was Preston’s penalty save and it helped earn him the man of the match award from Boatsy and his guests who were the fixtures Match Sponsors.
Young Charlie Clarke who also led the players out is pictured presenting Kieran with his well deserved prize and the win takes Carlton up to 6th in the table.
The Millers would like to thank Collette from Gregory Houe 2 who has stepped forward to sponsor the Matchball for next Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Stratford.
The Millers are now looking for either a sponsor or Matchball sponsor for their game v Sutton Coldfield on Tuesday 7th September.
