MILLERS TO MEET STAGS IN SENIOR CUP SEMI FINAL !
Carlton Town have been drawn away to Mansfield Town Under 21s in the semi Final of the Notts Senior Cup, but the Notts Fa have told the Millers, the game is likely to be played at Stoke Lane unless Mansfield Town wish to play it at the One Call Stadium.
The draw was carried out by Forest Academy Manager Gary Brazil and Carlton Towns’s Gary Boatsy Clarke live on Notts tv. Millers Chairman Mick Garton was also a guest at the studio and Gary Brazil told Mick and Boatsy that despite defeat in last years semi Final to Carlton, Forest had taken a lot from the game and had been an important learning curve for their youngsters.
The Forest Academy Chief told them he would be more than happy to come back to Stoke Lane this year and that they had totally embraced the competition, but it was Newark and Sherwood United Fc who were drawn against Forest and the Newark based club will be delighted with the draw which should attract a decent crowd.
Newark and Sherwood were given a reprieve in the competition after losing to Basford United, but Basford were removed from the competition by the Notts Fa after a breach of tournament rules.
Mansfield v Carlton Town is a repeat of last years Final which the Millers won 1-0 at Basford United, but Mansfield will certainly be favourites this time round. They played a strong side last time round and heavily defeated Notts County and Carlton are having a difficult season after challenging for the playoffs last season.
Boatsy told Notts Tv, that despite the difficult season Carlton were having and the problems with playing in the Northern Premier East League, he was confident the Millers would beat the drop and was looking forward to promoting the Mansfield game when details of the fixture which will take place in February are confirmed.
Weather permitting, Carlton will play a friendly against Eastwood Cfc on Tuesday 10th January 7.30pm at Stoke Lane. Admission will be free and the point of the fixture is to allow Tommy and Mark to have a look at fringe players and trialists who have been training with the club.
Carlton are in need of a spark and the Management duo are determined to leave no stone unturned in a bid to turn around Carlton’s season and this friendly is part of that process.
