MILLERS TO HELP 4 YEAR OLD FLORENTINA IN CANCER BATTLE.
On Sunday 22nd August, a Carlton Town X1 will take on a Total Reclaims X1 to raise money for 4 year old Florentina Rose Burton who has cancer and needs potential life saving treatment in the States.
Carlton Coach Dan Goddard who works for Total Reclaims is a work Colleague of Florentina’s auntie Alison and asked the club if they could do anything to help with the fundraising.
After a meeting at the ground, Carlton are delighted to announce that they will host the match on 22nd August with a 2pm kick off and are inviting donations on the gate.
Club Chairman Mick Garton is committed to making a significant contribution to the raffle and the event will have a Family Fun afternoon theme with other stalls and attractions invited to help raise money for Florentina.
It was on Monday 21st May 2021, just five days before Florentina’s 4th birthday that she was diagnosed with high risk Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive child cancer.
The club are to help the family with fundraising to send Florentina to New York to hopefully receive the Bivalent vaccine, the only pediatric tumour vaccine in the world that would give Florentina a chance of surviving a relapse in her battle against the awful cancer, which she is already fighting back against by undergoing Chemotherapy , she is now on her 3rd course after spending 3 weeks in Great Ormand street hospital.
Carlton Chairman Mick Garton told us “ The club is committed through our important role in the local community of supporting many local charities over the coming months and in particular during this summer now the lockdown has ended and after a very emotional meeting with Florentina’s aunt at the ground, this is something we will do all we can to help to support this beautiful little girl and hopefully raise a decent amount of money towards the overall cost of this , which is in itself significant”
”Football is a brilliant way of bringing people and communities together and these kind of events were not possible during lockdown, so many good causes and charities are almost making up now for lost time and this is worthy cause indeed”
“I have already start making phone calls to try and mobilise the Carlton Town family and Tommy and Mark are fully behind this, so please everyone, get the date in your diary and let’s do what we can to help” concluded the Millers Chairman.
