MILLERS TAKING BELPER TO THE WIRE AFTER THIRD STRAIGHT LEAGUE WIN!
Carlton Town’s fantastic run continued at Cambridge City this weekend as the Millers ran out 3-2 winners in a thriller.
It was goals galore in the first half and the half time score ended up being the full time score with Aaron O’Connor and Tyler Blake with a brace on the scoresheet for the Millers.
The second half saw chances at both ends and crossbars and posts were rattled, but the Millers came out triumphant and with Belper and Halesowen drawing earlier in the afternoon, the gap to Belper is just two points with two games to go.
The Northern Premier League table shows the gap at one point , but unless we have our maths mixed up , it is now 2 points, they seem to have down that Halesowen beat Belper 2-1 but our understanding is the game finished 2-2.
No doubt any confusion will be cleared up in due course, but one thing is for certain, Carlton after 3 superb wins on the bounce are right back in the mix.
Carlton have actually won 4 games in a row, if the 2-1 Semi Final defeat of Nottingham Forest under 23s in midweek is included and Tyler Blake seems to have hit the straps at just the right time for Carlton.
“Tyler was excellent today” Boatsy told us.
“The game was end to end entertainment for large parts, Cambridge have improved of late and gave us a really good game , but I thought we were worthy of our fine win” continued Boatsy.
Attention now turns to massive games on bank Holiday Monday with Carlton taking on Spalding at Stoke Lane while Belper Town visit Loughborough Dynamos.
Carlton will be hoping for a decent bank Holiday crowd for their last home game of the season with the knowledge, that although Belper still have their destiny in their own hands, Carlton are pushing them all the way.
