MILLERS PACK OUT THE WILLIAM GUNN, TRIALS NIGHT A SUCCESS AND COACH BOOKED FOR SATURDAY
There may have been no first team football at Stoke Lane this weekend, but there was a full night of club activity on Tuesday night with Pass Move Grin having a highly successful trials night at Stoke Lane with Tommy Brookbanks addressing trialists and club supporters packing out the William Gunn pub on Radcliffe Road for a quiz night staged by the pub for the club.
The event last year raised £414 but this year, they topped that by raising a cracking £512, the biggest amount ever raised at their monthly quiz night which is staged for various community groups, clubs and Charities.
There were approximately 15 teams taking part and a significant number were from the club. Jonno was on board with a team to represent the coaching staff and players, Kieran Harlow headed up a team representing the supporters club, Boatsy the commercial team, Mick Garton the committee with Greg Last, Tim Bee and Gaz Bee all on board and there were also a team from ex press officer Dean Wykes. The Netherfield Food Bank who the club works closely with also put a team in along with main sponsors MSR Newsgroup and a number of other supporters and locals for what proved a smashing evening indeed.
A massive thanks to Tom and Owen from the William Gunn and in particular Simon Fotheringham from Nottingham Forest who hosted the evening and to MSR Newsgroup for Organising a superb raffle and to our very own Kelly and her friend Jo for all their hard work on the night.
Chairman Mick Garton spoke to the packed pub and thanked everyone attending for their support for the evening and for the club and congratulations to Tom Robinson for winning the first prize in the raffle, Nottingham Forest hospitality.
The Millers are back in action on Saturday at Stocksbridge and the Millers will be running a coach to the game with supporters offered the chance to travel down with the team at £15 return. The coach will be leaning the ground at 11.30am and Millers Barn at 12 midday. To book a seat contact Alan Murphy through the supporters club or e Mail him at Carltontownsc@gmail.com
