MILLERS ON THE BRINK OF THE PLAYOFFS AFTER 9 POINTS FROM 4 GAMES IN 8 DAYS.

Carlton Town sit on the penultimate Saturday of the league season inside the playoff places after their third win from 4 games in 8 days, a remarkable feat.

Consett were the visitors to Stoke Lane and with the Junior section out in force to support, they recorded their best gate of the season as 384 packed into the Bull Stokeld Stadium and helped cheer the Millers onto a crucial 2-1 win with goals from Alex Hardwick and sponsors man of the match Niall Hylton, who is pictured receiving his deserved prize from B4 services in the Chuck Fowler Suite after the game.

Carlton looked comfortable when leading 2-0, but Consett had a late rally and got one back and Carlton then looked vulnerable.

The visitors had already been denied by a brilliant Felix save in the first half and a crucial one in the second ensured the Millers came away with the points.

There was an altercation towards the Consett corner flag as the final whistle sounded and Consett’s Jack Gibbons was shown a red card by the referee.

The Millers recorded their 10th home win of the season and now have 65 points from 36 games and mathematically now need 2 points from 2 games to confirm their playoff status.

The only team that can climb above the Millers is Derbyshire neighbours Belper Town, but if Carlton beat 3rd placed Dunston at Stoke Lane on Tuesday night, they are guaranteed a play off place, Belper are at 4th placed Pontefract Collieries, what a night Tuesday promises to be under the floodlights at both Carlton and indeed Pontefract.

With Josh working and John enjoying everything Switzerland at the moment, it has been up to Supporters Club Chief Alan Murphy and Chairman Mick Garton to provide the content for Carlton Town Tv and it was the Chairman’s turn again tonight as he sat down with Joint Manager Mark Harvey and Striker Alex Hardwick on the Boardroom sofa after the 2-1 win.
