MILLERS LAUNCH BIG FA CUP FOOD BANK APPEAL FOR SATURDAY!
Carlton Town in conjunction with our supporters club are delighted to announce that we are to hold a food bank collection this coming Saturday, the day of our big Fa Cup clash with Stratford Town.
The previous food bank collection at the start of the pandemic was hugely successful (see picture) and Chairman Mick Garton told us today, it was time for the club to step up to the plate again for the local community.
” I have spoken to Councillors Paul Wilkinson and Nicki Brooks in the last 24 hours and this initiative is very much needed in the local community i have learnt today” Donations have dropped off somewhat since restrictions were lifted and Nicki told me earlier that the timing of this could not be better”
The Dj area in the Clubhouse will be set a side for people to bring their contributions and councillor Brooks has particularly asked for tinned meat, vegetables, fruit, tomatoes and soups along with full and semi skimmed milk, uht, fruit juice, cereal, instant mashed potatoes and indeed anything else anyone can spare.
The Chairman continued “The pandemic as affected many people in many ways and there are people struggling out there, homeless people and the Netherfield food bank as being doing a wonderful job, Nicki and Mark have told me they will make sure everything will go there for redistribution and will be attending our game on Saturday”
“Finally I would ask everyone to share this news feed and put word out that Saturday is not only Fa Cup day, but food bank Day too and hopefully we will have a fantastic collection to support those in need locally” concluded the Millers Chief.
Anyone not attending the game on Saturday, but wishing to drop stuff in to donate can do so also, there will be stewards on duty to assist that process.
