MILLERS HOPING FOR BREAK IN THE WEATHER AHEAD OF DOUBLE HEADER
Carlton Town had to call all their 3G pitch bookings off on Monday night due to the court being waterlogged.
Even with all the rain last winter, that only happened on two or three occasions, so it gives people some idea how much rain there has been at Stoke Lane in the last 24 hours.
On a more positive note however , there was actually less standing water on the main pitch on Monday night than there was on the 3G, which to some extent will be down to the money spent on the pitch this summer and the work of Grounndsman Kris and volunteers such as Johnathon who was working on the pitch on Monday night after his own training session was cancelled.
The rain had certainly eased as Johnathon got to work and if Tuesday is mainly dry, then there is a lot of hope Tuesday night’s game v Dunston can go ahead.
Carlton also have a home game on Saturday v Liversage.
The players and management are desperate to play and the club is in need of the income and cash flow after not having a single home game during the whole of September.
Different weather Apps are giving different forecasts, so maybe a call to the clubs friends at Trent Bridge in the morning will be in order for the most reliable information from their much advanced technology.
We will endeavour to keep fans of both clubs up to date tomorrow and are conscious of the distance Dunston have to travel, keep an eye on X ( Twitter ) for updates.
The cover picture taken Monday tea time shows the area in front of the new stand which waterlogged a number of times last season, it was soft under foot like most of the pitch , but no where near as bad as would have been expected given the volume of rain.
