MILLERS CHIEFS SET UP ALTERNATIVE FUND RAISER FOR CHILDREN’S CANCER CHARITY
Chairman Mick Garton and Commercial and Marketing Chief Gary Clarke have teamed up Carlton Town, MSR Newsgroup and Oakfield Construction to raise some money for Children with Cancer Uk.
The May 5th bank holiday was pencilled in for the Punjabi Forest charity day, but Sky Tv have moved Forest’s Saturday fixture to the Monday night and as Punjabi Forest members would be travelling down to Crystal Palace to support the reds that night, it was decided to postpone their charity event and that game will now take place in July on a date to be confirmed at Stoke Lane.
Mick and Boatsy decided not to let the day go to waste and instead will manage a team to play in a charity match in support of the Charity Boatsy’s boss at Oakfield Construction Mark Flint is getting behind and supporting with his family, a charity very close to their hearts.
Mark is running in the London Marathon, ironically before Forest play Manchester City in the Fa Cup Semi Final at Wembley on April 27th.
Josh Farrell who is involved with the Carlton Town under 7s and sponsors the team through his mum’s business “Joy to Care Ltd” will be getting together a team from mates, who regularly play five a side at Stoke Lane to take on the Carlton Town x1 which will feature supporters, dads, a couple of veterans including club legend Ian White and some young lads including Zak Hill who will captain the side and this website understands his dad Greg is playing to.
Boatsy’s son Charlie and Mick’s son Josh are both expected to play in the game as well.
All the players on both sides will pay £10 to the Charity to play and both Oakfield Construction and MSR Newsgroup will donate Nottingham Forest hospitality prizes worth around £600 each for a raffle on the day, cracking prizes indeed!
Spectators will not be charged entry but asked to donate on the gate whatever they can afford to give to this brilliant charity.
The Carlton Town under 7s will feature in a penalty shootout either before the game or at half time.
Planning is still in the early stages and further details will follow in due course, but the game is one of a number of Community events for Charity being held at the stadium in the coming weeks, this website will endeavour to keep right across it.
If you would like to get involved and help out on the day, please contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.
