MILLERS BANDWAGON KEEPS ROLLING ON BUT STILL 8TH

The fact that after six consecutive victories and only one defeat in 17 games, Carlton Town still remain 8th in the Northern Premier East League does not tell the full story.

Carlton have won 7 and drawn 2 of their last 9 home league games, they have won their last 5 away games and their only loss in the last 17 games came away against Sherwood Colliery on Boxing Day in a game they dominated.

The fact that Carlton are still only 8th, despite that amazing run perhaps says a lot about the high standard of the league, given the Millers were mid table when the great run began.
The one difference now however is that Carlton are just a point outside the playoffs after the 1-0 win over Emley AFC.

There was a sprecial irony indeed to the win over Emley, who are already pretty much nailed on for a playoff place, in that we were defeated 4-0 at their place in October and minutes before kick off, we were informed our President Roger Smith had passed away.
It was by far the worst day of the season so far, due to the passing of Roger and one hopes he was looking down on Tuesday night.

Finally a special thankyou to MSR Newsgroup, John Hartstone and DG Cars who were Tuesday night’s match sponsors and to Danny from the Boot Room who won the raffle and then gave his bottle of Prosecco to Liam Moran for scoring the winning goal.

Liam Spoke to Carlton Town TV’s  Josh Hodgson after the 1-0 win pitchside after the final whistle.
