MILLERS ACHILLES HEEL COSTS THEM AGAIN AT CORBY!
The Carlton Town fans Twitter feed, said how on earth did we lose that game? It would be harsh to just blame it on a penalty miss, but it has become an achilles heel for the millers this season.
When club Captain Tom Maddison takes the penaltys, he tends to score, but the Millers have been awarded 7 penalties this season when Maddo has not been on the pitch and have missed every single one, whichever player has taken them.
We have not totalled up the points lost through the failure to convert those, perhaps someone else has, but it is probably the difference between Carlton being in the playoffs mix and not being, because now following Saturday’s defeat, the Millers will need to win their last 5 matches to have even an outside chance of making the playoffs, while Belper need to win just 3 from 6.
Carlton were depleted indeed for this game and failed to build on last week’s excellent result away at Sutton Coldfield and have some tough fixtures for their run in facing Chasetown next Saturday at Stoke Lane first up.
An equally tough encounter follows the following Saturday when the Millers welcome Belper Town themselves to Stoke Lane.
The Easter weekend see’s Carlton visit Cambridge on Easter Saturday, before Spalding visit Stoke Lane on the Bank Holiday Monday, before a tough finish at 4th placed Stamford on Saturday 23rd April.
Tucked in between these last few league games on Tuesday 12th April is the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup Semi Final against Nottingham Forest under 23s and there will be a ticket announcement regarding this tomorrow, watch this space !
