MIILLERS RETAIN THE MICKY BARRETT TROPHY IN RAINY AFTERNOON IN CLIFTON
New popular signing, goalkeeper Felix the Cat is pictured with Carlton Town Joint managers Tommy and Mark with his first trophy for the club.
It might not be a league title or the county Cup, but despite the 4-0 score line Clifton fought hard in an at times feisty game, something that went down well with Mark Harvey as he explained when speaking to Carlton Town Tv after the game.
A brace for Lamin Maneh, along with goals from Zak Hill and Lawrence Stewart and there was plenty of penalty drama too. If we we were to cover that in detail, we would fill a page, needless to say Carlton scored one in the end (Lamin), penalty taking is something the managers will no doubt be working on during the remainder of pre season.
A minutes applause was held in memory of Micky Barrett prior to kick off and there were some kind words for the travelling Carlton contingent in the after Match speeches from the Clinton hierarchy before Matchday skipper Kyle Sargent was prevented with the trophy following the 4-0 win.
Next year Clifton will travel to the Millers for the return game while Carlton will travel to Merthyr Town for their annual fixture return with their Welsh friends. Carlton will be delighted to have won both of their annual fixtures, but know much bigger tests are ahead.
Hucknall Town away at their new stadium are next up this coming Tuesday 25th July before an emotional return to Stoke Lane next Saturday when Shepshed Dynamoes are the visitors for the Jackie North Memorial game.
Following the 4-0 win, Media Chief Josh Hodgson spoke to Joint Manager Mark Harvey.
