LATE AGONY FOR MILLERS IN SAD NIGHT AT STOKE LANE !
Another gate of over 200 was impressive indeed for a club that not to many years ago was getting no more than around 100 for each game.
Sadly the Millers were not able to grab a victory on the “Night of the Presidents” at Stoke Lane against high flying Belper Town.
The Stokeld family turned out in force and were emotional indeed as they watched the tribute from Tommy and Mick that has not been seen for many years.
It will in due course be shown on Carlton Town Tv, but for this showing, supporters from both clubs watched in complete silence in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar, you could not hear a pin drop.
There was warm applause at the end followed almost instantly by a minutes silence for Roger Smith who sadly passed anway last Saturday.
The Stokeld family were then introduced to and looked after by club Ambassador Ian Storey-Moore.
The cover picture shows members of Bill’s family listening intently in the bar as Chairman Mick Garton introduces the video, thanks to Ben Marsh.
On the pitch, Carlton suffered their first home defeat of the season in all competitions, as they went down 2-1 to Belper Town, Harry Draper poked the ball home after Carlton failed to clear the danger in their box and scored his second goal of the evening to give the visitors the win in the 88th minute.
Cruel indeed for the home side on such an emotional evening.
Charlie Carter had equalised for the Millers in the first half and in fairness after that, the game could have gone either way, with plenty of endeavour from both sides, but few clear cut chances.
It went the way of the away side however and Carlton drop to 11th following the narrow defeat, while Belper remain 3rd.
The Millers have two more home games to come in the next week with Heaton Stannington the visitors on Saturday and Ashington next Tuesday 29th October, they will be hoping to return to winning ways after their first home set back of the season.
