LAST MINUTE HEARTBREAK FOR CARLTON ON NEW YEARS DAY AND CHAIRMAN ADMITS, MONEY NEEDS SPENDING ON PITCH AND CAR PARK ETC!

Carlton went into their New Year’s Day clash with Kidsgrove Athletic in confident mood following their Boxing Day win at Ilkeston Town, but they were undone by an agonising last minute goal from prolific Kidsgrove striker Anthony Malbon.

There had been praise in recent weeks for the improvement in Carlton’s pitch during the opening months of the season, but the continuing rain over December as now clearly taken it’s toll and conditions were far from ideal for the managements preferred way of playing the beautiful game, with extremely heavy pitch conditions frustrating the Millers.

Tommy Brookbanks has today spoken to Chairman Mick Garton (pictured) with suggestions on ways of improving playing conditions in the coming weeks and the club will act on that Garton told us today.

“There are a number of items that need addressing with regards to the ground including the car park, broken seats in the stand and indeed the pitch and other facilities in the ground that need attention and money raised over Christmas will be earmarked towards these things” said the Millers Chief.

“Dave Hodgson is still working hard behind the scenes to try and achieve more funding help, but the process is far from straightforward”

Hodgson and Garton are hopeful of providing an update to Commitee members before the end of January on any progress made, priorities and what the club will need to do fund raising wise between now and the end of the season to bring facilities up to the standards they aspire to.

“The clubs Senior Commitee is well aware that the club now has the best chance of moving forward with this current squad and management team and have supported that in securing key players on contract in recent weeks, but we are also well aware that the Car Park, Pitch and other areas need work on and we will work hard to achieve those goals in the coming weeks and months and I welcome any help, advice and suggestions Supporters can give us going forward”

“We have already spoken to a Nottingham Forest legend who has not spoken at the ground before about doing a spring evening to help raise money, improvements to the car park alone will cost thousands and that’s before we even get onto the pitch, the stand, the 3G pitch and associated facilities, but as always, I will continue to do my best to attempt to get all these things done”

“We would also be grateful for any more volunteers who want to get involved, this really is a fantastic club, but we do need always need more help and are genuinely appreciative of everyone who gets involved” concluded the Chairman.

The club are currently without a press officer and the Academy is still looking for a Physio which is a paid for position on match days.

This website will keep everyone up to date and on the playing front, Sutton Coldfield away are next up for the Millers on Saturday4th January.
