IT’S HARDWICK AT THE DOUBLE AS MILLERS WIN THE BIG LOCAL DERBY
Recent signing Alex Hardwick delivered for the Millers in one of the biggest games of the season at Stoke lane on Tuesday night in front of 262 spectators.
It was Hardwick at the double as he scored two first half goals and could have easily had a hatrick as Carlton dominated their table topping Derbyshire neighbours.
Felix was in fine form in the Millers goal when called upon, but when Belper got back into the game in the second half, it was a solid all round team performance that not only kept Belper at bay, but continued to create openings which the Millers failed to convert.
The Millers had full Match Sponsors for the game and a big Thankyou to Chris Underwood who had supporters from both teams in his party, the sponsors are pictured presenting Alex with his well deserved man of the match award.
Simon Fotheringham proved an excellent pre match guest, Ian Storey-Moore signed a few books, Punjabi Forest enjoyed their night and the Carlton faithful went home happy.
The win means the Millers move to 5th in the table after their win and into a playoff spot, although with last season’s relegation battle still fresh in his mind, Tommy speaking to Carlton Town Tv stressed the first priority was to avoid relegation.
Alex Hardwick meanwhile told of his joy and how happy he was at Stoke Lane, he also was still clearly frustrated about the cup defeat at Nuneaton , when his clearly onside goal was chalked off by the assistant referee and that became very clear when he spoke to Carlton Town Tv after the 2-1 win over Belper.
