IT’S A MORAN TREBLE AS MILLERS START THE NEW YEAR WITH A BANG
Carlton Town started 2025 as they finished 2024 with a strong home win in front of another bumper crowd at Stoke Lane.
Liam Moran was the hero with a fine hatrick and could have scored four, but for a fine save from Heath Richardson in the Pontefract goal.
A special mention for Felix however in the Millers goal, he made a cracking save with the score at 0-0 and after a promising start to the game for Pontefract, Carlton took control in the second half putting in a fine team performance headed up by Liam Moran.
There was plenty of theatre going on around the fixture, as is so often the case now at Stoke Lane with Mapperley All Stars providing no less than 19 mascots.
Club Photographer Lou Lardi was full of praise for the children who he said made his job so easy on the afternoon.
Our very special guest speaker was former West Midlands Police Detective Superintendent Gary Campbell who told some cracking stories about his time in the force, some extremely funny, one particularly sad one and he was given a hearty reception in the packed Howard Mitchell Sportsbar.
He spent most of the rest of the afternoon holding court with a variety of Millers supporters and proved one of the most popular guests we have had at the Bill Stokeld Stadium.
There was also the small matter of an 80th Birthday to celebrate with a signed card, presents and a cake for Club Ambassador Ian Storey-Moore who spent a decent amount of the afternoon signing autographs for supporters of both teams.
Gary Campbell sat down to watch his beloved Aston Villa on the club’s screens as they took on Arsenal, Our Irish branch were in the house sponsoring the Match ball and Mike and JJ Hurley presented it signed by the squad to Liam Moran after his hatrick.

There was still time for the 200 club draw with the Top £200 prize going to Mark Steggles and some after match interviews and Alan Murphy caught up with Joint Manager Mark Harvey and Hatrick Hero Liam Moran for Carlton Town Tv.
