GREAT NEWS FOR MILLERS AS NEW DEFIBRILLATOR SECURED FOR DUGOUT HOME AND AWAY

Carlton Chairman Mick Garton is delighted to announce that the club have today secured a new state of the art defibrillator that actually gives out instructions for use by voice upon an emergency.

The Chairman and Commercial and Marketing Manager Gary ‘Boatsy’ Clarke met Amanda from “Defibs for Grassroots Football”at the Bill Stokeld Stadium today and were presented with the new life saving kit that can be taken to away games as well as used in the dugouts at Stoke Lane.

The Chairman met Amanda a couple of years ago at the William Gunn pub in West Bridgford when he was the guest of The YEL at a dinner and managed to get the Millers on the waiting list.

“Patience was important and because we already had one based in the Clubhouse, we were obviously not top of the list, but we have kept in touch with Amanda and with the technology improving all the time, this is most certainly an upgrade and can be used for home and away games, it comes with a travel bag for taking it to away games and is great news for everyone associated with the club” said the Chairman.

“In return, myself and Gary have agreed to host a charity game on behalf of the club for the Charity which will take place on either Friday 9th May or Saturday 17th May to help raise money for the next set of Defibrillators for other clubs who the Charity can then support”

Amanda who was recently awarded a “Pride of Gedling Award”, the same award presented to the Chairman during Covid for his voluntary work both at the club and in the local community, spoke to us as well and told us “I’m delighted to have presented the Defibrillator to Mick and Gary for the club, it could prove a life saver for a player or a spectator in the future, you never know what’s round the corner, Carlton is a club I come and watch when I can and the work they do in the local community is something I am well aware of and impressed by.
This is the 54th Defibrillator we have been able to present to Grass Roots Football and we look forward to working with Mick, Gary and the team at Carlton to raise money for more, we will announce details of the Charity day when we have put it all together” a smiling Amanda concluded.

If the Charity match goes ahead on the 17th May, it will be just two days before the pitch is handed over to the groundsman for urgent summer remedial work, there is another announcement pending for another very special game on Sunday 18th May, something very poignant for special friends of the club and a significant number of Millers Supporters, before work commences on Monday 19th May.
The pitch will be available again for use in mid July, with the first preseason friendlies in early July ahead of the 2025-2026 season being away from home.
