GOOD FRIDAY NEWS ROUND UP FROM STOKE LANE AHEAD OF BUSY MONTH INDEED
First of all a big Good Friday thankyou to the volunteers who turned up at the Bill Stokeld Stadium today to assist Groundsman Kris with feeding the newly delivered Sports sand into the main problem area on the pitch, with heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday morning, the task was an important one and both Kris and Supporter Kieran who was the last to leave the ground felt far more positive than they did on their early morning arrival after seeing the results of the sand and some much needed sunshine.
Kris was able to mark the pitch and with a mainly dry weekend forecast on the Trent Bridge satellite system with wind and sunshine prominent, Carlton are confident that Monday’s game v Grantham will get the go ahead and to ensure that is the case, the club are asking for volunteers from 9.30am at the ground please on Monday morning.
On the playing side, Shea Thompson-Harris has suffered a broken bone in his foot and is expected to be out for the rest of the season sadly.
A big thankyou to Lee Carrington Painters and Decorators who are sponsoring Monday’s game v Grantham Town and we look forward to welcoming Lee and his guests to the ground.
We also have some exciting news ahead of the fixture on Saturday 6th April which in affect is a Bitcoin take over as they have taken all sponsorship packages on the day and will be holding a festival day in conjunction with the game.
The game as been designated a Food Bank game, the final one this season and the club are expecting a decent attendance, with the Bitcoin family coming from all over the country and some brilliant special guests, details are set to be announced early next week along with a guest Ale which we are confident will capture the supporters imagination.
Next weekend will be a full on weekend at the Bill Stokeld Stadium with the Memorial and afternoon of celebration in memory of Boatsy’s dad Ron Clarke who sadly passed away a few days ago taking place on Sunday 7th April.
Family, friends and the Carlton Town family are all invited to what will be an emotional afternoon starting at 2pm and the finale to this tribute afternoon in memory of Ron will be the showing of Tottenham v Nottingham Forest on the clubs screens from 6pm.
The fixture was only changed in the last 24 hours and Boatsy felt it was “meant to be” to coincide with the end of Ron’s memorial afternoon, Ron was a massive Nottingham Forest fan and it is a fact of life that these things sometimes happen, the key now will be for Forest to get a win against the odds for Ron, a fitting end to what promises to be a remarkable afternoon.
Finally as part of their sponsorship of the club and in particular the 200 club, MSR Newsgroup have donated a superb piece of Football Memorabilia for the April 2024 Bonus Prize to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the draw ran and set up by the supporters club to help the club going forward from Covid onwards.
That prize (see cover picture ) is a superb signed framed montage of pictures featuring one of the worlds greatest ever players Ronaldinho, it doesn’t get much better than this and someone in the 200 club draw will walk away with this outstanding and valuable piece of memorabilia at next Saturday’s draw.
That pretty much brings you all up to date , watch this space and we will continue to let you know what’s happening on and off the pitch.
