FROM DESPAIR TO DELIGHT , THE BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND THAT WAS!
It started with a long trip for many on the Friday night and finished at Monday tea time with many mixed fortunes and totally contrasting results.
The Consett away trip will be one the Millers will want to forget quickly, a 5-0 defeat, a sending off for Niall Hilton and an injury to Alex Howes that left Carlton down to nine men for the latter stages of that game.
Tommy and Mark needed a response on the Monday and they got one !
Long Eaton had made a fine start to the season and probably started the game as favourites given Saturday’s results, but in front of an excellent Bank Holiday crowd of 279, the returning Arron Opoku got back into the old routine and with him and strike partner on the day Brad Wells getting a goal apiece and a clean sheet at the other end for Michael Emery, Carlton ran out 2-0 winners in what was a fiesty local Derby. Wells finish was one the Carlton faithfull will remember for some time, it was that good !
The only negative for Carlton was the sending off of the returning Apoku for retaliation, it did not affect the outcome of the game , but will be frustrating for Tommy and Mark given the impact he made on the day.
Another positive for Carlton was new supporters and two are featured on the cover photo, introduced by Boatsy and both lads told us they had a cracking afternoon and will be back.
Tommy Brookbanks (below) gave an excellent and very honest interview to Carlton Town Tv immeadatly after the Long Eaton win, it is well worth a listen.
