FIVE WINS FROM SIX GAMES AS CARLTON FINALLY WIN AT HOME !
Tommy Brookbanks and Mark Harvey have been trying everything to get their home form back on track, social evenings and playing in the away kit at home among them, but maybe all they needed was a good breakfast at The Inn for a Penny with Jamie Huckerby because that was this Saturday’s pre Match treat and wow!
One will never know how much Jamie’s breakfast contributed to the win , but it’s a good story so we are running with it and why not.
Carlton conceded a soft early goal and supporters will have been thinking, here we go again, but the response to that setback was outstanding with The Millers dominating the majority of the rest of the game, hitting the woodwork 3 times with Consett also hitting it when 1-0 up.
A crucial goal from Niall Davie and a match winning penalty from Alex Troke after a Consett hanball, which resulted in a red card for the Consett player turned a 1-0 negative into a 2-1 positive and although it still leaves Carlton in the playoff drop zone, the hope and belief is that they can now beat the drop.
Anything from Monday’s game at league Champions Worksop will be a huge bonus given their outstanding form, but Carlton can at least approach that game with increasing confidence after their 5th win in 6 games.
Special mention for another fantastic pre match guest, Karate champion James Wells who the Chairman breifly mistook for legendary broadcaster James Whale !
What a fantastic story he had to tell and what a cracking guest .
