FIRST THE HOPE AND THEN THE AGONY AS MILLERS THROW AWAY 2 GOAL LEAD AT CLEETHORPES!
With three wins from the last 4 games played and 2-0 up at half time with former Mansfield Town youngster Tyler Blake (pictured) showing he’s back to his best following a long injury lay off, one could have been forgiven for finally believing Carlton Town had indeed turned a corner.
But a combination of a much improved second half performance from Cleethorpes and all Carltons faults resurfacing left Carlton’s supporters frustrated and extremely disappointed, especially since this was a familiar tale of throwing away strong starts.
Carlton are now in real trouble at the wrong end of the table after the really poor second half performance and will quickly and consistently have to find their first half form from the Cleethorpes game, if they are to have any chance of surviving the drop this season.
Carlton certainly missed Riece Bertram after his man of the match performance on Wednesday and his suspension will be a frustration to both himself and the club given it was avoidable.
Carlton visit Sheffield Fc next up on Tuesday before the outstanding Morpeth visit Stoke Lane next Saturday.
On a more positive note, Carlton’s academy side had a 3-0 away win at Ossett United on Friday and move up to 4th in the Sports trader Academy League.
