FIRST GAME WITHOUT ROGER, 20 YEARS SINCE BILL PASSED, A SAD NIGHT INDEED!
Carlton Town take on Belper Town on Tuesday evening with feelings still raw after the passing of President Roger Smith on Saturday.
The club’s first home game since Roger’s death will be an emotional affair for everyone connected with the club and a minutes silence will be held for Roger prior to kick off.
The sad irony is that the club are remembering Bill Stokeld (pictured) ahead of the Belper Town game, with his family the clubs very special guests as the Bill Stokeld tribute video is played out in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar prior to kick off.
Something Roger was heavily involved with.
It’s 20 years this month since Bill was rushed to hospital from the ground and later died in hospital.
Roger was then to take over as President and has held that position for 20 years.
There is of course then the small matter of a big local Derby against high flying Belper Town at 7.45pm, the club is hoping for a good turn out for their two fantastic Presidents.
