DRAMATIC FINISH AT STOKE LANE IN FRONT OF BUMPER SATURDAY CROWD
Carlton Town had invited close friends Mapperley All Stars Fc to be their very special Saturday afternoon guests at Stoke Lane for the clash with Winterton Fc and combined with no game for Nottingham Forest and Notts County away from home, Carlton pulled in a cracking crowd of 255 at Stoke Lane.
It was to prove a dramatic afternoon indeed in front of Proper Football and our guest Gary Harris from Proper Football proved a brilliant pre match guest in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar.
Gary went on to interview several key figures at the club and passionately celebrated Carlton’s 96th minute winner, he definitely became a fan !
Gary’s brilliant match day offerings will be on Proper Football Social Media in the coming days and watch out for some great game day coverage.
Khyle Sargent was the Millers hero, with yet another headed goal which keeps the Millers in a playoff spot and help produce fantastic celebrations at Stoke Lane.
You would have to have a heart of stone, not to feel even a little for Winterton who defended for their lives and punished the Millers on the break to make it 1-1 after Alex Hardwick had stroked home a second half penalty after being fouled himself just inside the penalty area.
Carlton however will point to a goal mouth scramble when they were celebrating a goal, only to be told the ball had not fully crossed the line, that was a bone of contention for the Millers and particularly the supporters behind the goal who have told us, it was over the line.
The reality is however if the officials are not of the same opinion or not sure, they can not give it and Carlton were grateful to Man of the Match Khyle Sargent for a superb header and a crucial winner at the death.
Carlton have another tough game this coming Tuesday when league leaders Stockton are the visitors to Stoke Lane, Saturday was nothing if entertaining and more of the same will undoubtedly set the pulses racing once again, we look forward to the challenge.
Carlton Town Tv spoke to Assistant Manager Clerky and last minute hero Kyle Sargent after the final whistle.
