CRUCIAL AWAY WIN IN THE NORTH EAST FOR THE MILLERS!
Carlton’s latest journey to the North East saw them returning to Nottingham with 3 points after a hard fought 3-1 win at Dunston.
Carlton controlled the first half and went in at the break deservedly 1-0 up courtesy of a Niall Davie Header.
In the second half , Dunston came out with aggression and intent and goalkeeper Richard Stainsby had to be at his best to keep the Millers in front.
Despite the Dunston pressure, the Millers looked dangerous on the break and the counter press and after a Brillant interception by Alex Howes, Brad Wells added to his seasons impressive tally with a tap in at the far post.
Dunston continued to power forward and Stainsby made 2 more crucial saves, one of them outstanding.
Dunston eventually got their goal after a goal mouth scramble , not the first of the afternoon and momentum was on their side, but Carlton were working so hard as a team to defend their goal.
Then something happened amid all the pressure that carlton were soaking up and it was 3 moments of class that put the game to bed.
Great control and a fine pass from the edge of his box from Jarred Holmes, a lovely turn and through ball from Brad Wells and a fine run and finish from Niall Hilton made 1t 3-1 to the Millers.
Millers Chairman Mick Garton was on Carlton Town Tv duty and chatted with supporter Reece and Joint manager Mark Harvey after the final Whistle and we will bring you those conversations in due course.
Massive credit to Dunston for getting the game on despite constant rainfall in the North East over the last couple of days and supporters praised their opposite numbers for their warm welcome on their first visit to the ground.
The fans are pictured in the impressive and equally welcoming Tudor Rose Pub enjoying welcome pre match drinks after the long trip.
