CLERKY SQUAD UPDATE FOR SUPPORTERS AHEAD OF THE FESTIVE SEASON

Carlton Town Assistant Manager Andy Clerke has penned an article ahead of Christmas for supporters exclusively for this website, revealing details of dual signings and the reasons for them and highlighting the relationships with other local clubs for mutual benefit.

“Before heading into the hectic Christmas period it feels timely to update our supporters and wider members of the football club on the latest news regarding our playing squad.

Some of you will have noticed recently a few familiar names popping up on club team sheets away from Carlton all of which to the benefit of both the player and the two respective clubs.

Like the majority of clubs at our level operating with a single team as a senior section, loans and dual signings play an important part of our squad strategy both in terms of bringing players in and getting players game time & experience away from Carlton.
We’ve had some great examples of excellent young players coming to us on loan this season from professional football clubs as they look to develop themselves with non league experience alongside the programme at their parent club, Jack Newell (Burton Albion) & Charlie Carter (Mansfield) are real stand outs to this & a real feather in Carltons cap that such clubs value the experience & environment we provide at Carlton to these talented young players.

In the reverse of this we have strong relationships with local clubs at steps 5 & 6 that we have worked with this season to get players game time if they aren’t at that point part of the match day 16 man squad.
At this point in time we have Jonny Gilbert doing fantastically at Harrowby, Zac Hill (pictured with me at the club’s Annual Golf Day) Neo Saunders & Shea Harris (Kimberley), David Olatomide (Stapleford), Musa Jawara (West Bridgeford) & Osa Solomon (Belper United).
All of these players have played a big part at Carlton this season and will continue to do so as we turn into the new year, the important thing is when they are called back they are ready to hit the ground running having benefitted from regular football as we have recently seen with Loz Gorman coming back from injury but getting valuable minutes at Skegness.

As part of this update we can confirm that Liam Moran will dual sign with Newark & Sherwood this week and we all have no doubt this will be positive for Liam to get both regular games & goals at a club that he already knows extremely well.

After a great result last Saturday we have a short trip to Ashington this weekend where we know our fantastic support will be willing the lads on to build on the Bradford result and we thank all of you for your continued support and efforts behind the scenes to drive us all forward !

We’ll see you Saturday and good luck to all those representing Carlton Town in other colours this weekend”
