CLASSY COLESHILL FALL TO COUNTER PUNCH MILLERS!
Carlton Town moved up to second in the table with an important win against the team who were second, Coleshill Town.
Torrential rain arrived in the hour before kick off and badly affected the gate with only 100 inside the Bill Stokeld Stadium, Carlton’s lowest gate of the season after the massive improvement in numbers this season.
The attendance may have been down, but one thing that did withstand the onslaught from the Sky was the Millers pitch, helping justify the significant amount spent on it during the summer, largely thanks to the 150 club.
Coleshill provided impressive opposition indeed and laid siege on the Millers goal in a first half they largely dominated, a combination of great defending, good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept the scores level as half time approached and then the Millers carried out the classic smash and grab, with an excellent goal from new signing Kieran Knight who only made his debut last week.
Tommy and Mark will have welcomed the interval and no doubt words of wisdom contributed to a much more on the front foot Millers in the second half and Tom Maddison with a penalty after Tyler Blake was cleaned out in the box made it 2-0.
The drama was not over however with Washbourne pulling a goal back for the visitors and both teams going down to 10 men in the final quarter of the game after separate incidents, in Carlton’s case late on, Deon Meikle received a second yellow for a foul.
Tommy Brookbanks was delighted with the win and recognised in his post match interview with Carlton Town Tv, which has now been uploaded to the station, what a good side they had beaten.
Matchball Sponsors DG Cars voted Dan Brown their man of the match and Pete from DG is pictured presenting Dan with his prize, Dan also spoke with Carlton Town TV and his interview will be shown with the match highlights when they are posted in due course.
