CLARKE FAMILY ALL GEARED FOR EMOTIONAL SUNDAY AT STOKE LANE
After all the drama of Saturday’s game with Ashington AFC and the Bitcoin Festival, attention will turn to Sunday and the Day of Remembrance and Celebration of Ron Clarke’s life in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar throughout the afternoon.
The bar will open from 12 Midday for the “Old Firm Clash’ Rangers v Celtic which will be shown on the club’s screens and with people coming from all parts, a few people have said they would love to watch that game and the club are delighted to oblige.
The Memorial afternoon will start at around 2pm with speeches scheduled for around 2.30pm before a slide slow at 3pm. The clubs resident Dj Dan will be playing some of Ron’s favourite tunes soon afterwards and will be manning the clubs decks throughout the afternoon.
The family have a laid a buffet on from around 4pm and at 6pm the Clubhouse will show the Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest game, this the family believes is the way Ron would have wanted the afternoon to conclude with final orders called on the final whistle in a final toast to Ron at around 8pm.
The family have requested that anyone wanting to make a donation in Ron’s name should do so towards Ron’s other sporting love, which was boxing and donation buckets will be in the clubhouse for people to contribute if they so wish towards “Switch Up” a local Charity ran by friend of the club Marcellus Baz who heads up the Nottingham School of Boxing.
Switch up exists to empower Nottingham’s young people, children and young adults to break the cycle of offending and reoffending through mentoring and physical training to steer young people into positive activity and away from crime and gang-criminality.
Ron’s remaining Nottingham Forest books have been donated to Carlton Town Fc and will be on sale in the clubhouse at only £3.00 instead of the RRP of £5.99 with the money going towards the cost of the coach trip to Merthyr Fc on Saturday 6th July.
The family have asked us to stress that anyone that wants to come and pay their respects is welcome to, this is not a closed shop event, Ron knew a lot of people and everyone is genuinely welcome.
Nottingham Forest remembered Ron in Tuesday nights match programme v Fulham and Forest won 3-1, difficult though it will be at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to repeat that feat, we are sure Ron will be looking down and hoping that is the case at around 8pm on Sunday night when the final whistle sounds and everyone makes that sad last toast to a good man who will be missed by so many.
