CLARK DOUBLE BRINGS TROPHY JOY FOR MILLERS AT STOKE LANE!
Oliver Clark (pictured) with two thundering headers ensured Carlton Town went into the next round of the Fa Trophy after he helped the Millers to a 3-1 win in front of 92 at Stoke Lane.
After going out at the first shout in the Fa Cup, Carlton were desperate to avoid a similar fate in the Fa Trophy and despite once again missing chances, they had enough in the tank to overcome a battling St Neots Town side.
Clark’s goals had given Carlton a 2-0 lead either side of the interval, but after St Neots had pulled one back following a corner, Carlton faced a nervy finish to the game and there was much relief inside the Bill Stokeld Stadium when Tom Maddison put away a penalty after substitute Mamoke Akaunu had been brought down inside the box following a typically mazy run.
Match Ball sponsors B4 Painting voted for Tom Maddison as their man of the match, but in fairness it could have gone to either Oliver Clark or the excellent Martin Ball as well.
Maddison was presented with his sponsors man of the match award by B4’s Mark Benner and Arron Opoku received his award from Wednesday nights game from Vice Chairman Barry North.
Carlton Town Tv were on hand to get the after match reaction and while Comedy Bee was catching up with Milers Chairman Mick Garton, Josh Hodgson back in the press box caught up with Oliver Clark following his outstanding brace and Joint Manager Mark Harvey.
All Interviews wil be downloaded and available in due course, but for now the Millers can look forward to another home fixture against either Bedworth or Biggleswade who drew 2-2 and will replay in the coming days.
Carlton are next in action next Saturday 5th October when they visit Chasetown, the millers dropped to second in the table today following Leek Towns outstanding 4-0 win at Worksop Town.
