CHANGING ROOM COMPLEX SET TO BE NAMED IN HONOUR OF ROGER SMITH

Carlton Town are delighted to announce that the changing room complex incorporating the snack bar. the club shop, the secretary’s office and the Chuck Fowler Suite will be named in honour of the late club President Roger Smith and be known as the Roger Smith Centre.

The proposal was discussed at a board meeting at the end of 2024 and after consultation with supporters chief Alan Murphy and Roger’s wife Vivian Smith at last weeks game against Ossett United, the decision was taken to move ahead with the proposal.

At the Ossett United home game, Viv was presented with a book of memories, put together by our own brilliant Lou Lardi and the Carlton Town players who came with up with the cracking idea and others at the club contributed to towards this specific keepsake of Roger’s time at the club for Viv and the family to take and treasure.

The naming ceremony of the Roger Smith Centre is scheduled to take place in the summer ahead of the 2025-2026 season, possibly at a pre season game.

In the meantime, we have some footage from Carlton Town Tv of the presentation to Viv last Saturday, hosted by joint manager Tommy Brookbanks who explains about the book, before it is presented to Viv just prior to kick off in the Clubhouse Sportsbar.
