CARLTON ORDERED TO PLAY NEXT HOME FIXTURE AWAY FROM STOKE LANE.
Following the postponement of Tuesday night’s fixture with Dunston Fc, the club have been ordered to play their remaining March home fixture away from Stoke Lane.
Foolowing heavy rain prior to the recent Bridlington fixture, the club got expert advice from Trent Bridge and with the help of volunteers, managed to get the Bridlington fixture played.
The area of the pitch that Carlton are having the most problems with was covered on Tuesday, but due to the share volume of rain on the day as shown on the cover photo ,other areas of the pitch were waterlogged.
Further talks have been urgently opened with our friends at Trent Bridge to try and ensure the April fixtures can be played at Stoke Lane, with every feasible possibility now being explored, but without further planning and urgent action , the club will face playing remaining fixtures at other grounds, which will have huge financial implications for the club.
With a 200 per cent increase in average monthly rain fall in recent weeks, the club have been up against it and the league have now come down hard on the club and everything possible will be done to find answers.
Carlton realise that any game rearranged on another clubs pitch at step 3 or 4 which are the requirements, is going to be difficult given most of the nearest clubs are in Derbyshire and they to are also having challenges with the same issues with their grass pitches that face the Millers in this wettest of winters.
Carlton are therefore in talks with Basford United who have a 4G surface and it is possible their fixture with Pontefract Collieries scheduled for next Tuesday will now take place next Wednesday at Basford United, one thing is certain, it will not be played at Stoke Lane, whatever the conditions.
We will keep supporters up to date via this website and social media, it is a situation that the club have never ever faced in the past from memory, but one that hit them hard yesterday following the latest postponement and subsequent correspondence from the league.
The Millers visit Liversage on Saturday and supporters are reminded that a coach is leaving the ground at 11am and Millers Barn at 11.30am. The price is £15 return and to book your place contact Boatsy on 07907 064189.
