CARLTON MOVE CUP GAME TO RADFORD FC BUT STILL NO GUARANTEES!
Carlton Town have tonight moved their Nottinghamshire Senior Cup Quarter Final to Radford Fc in a desperate attempt to get the game played.
Torrential rain on both Sunday and Monday mean there is zero chance of Carlton’s pitch being playable on Tuesday night and after spending considerable time on the phone this afternoon, club secretary Trevor Wells revealed he had agreed terms with Radford Fc to host the game.
Radford have been clear to Carlton that although their pitch drains well, further downpours tomorrow will leave the game very much in the balance.
Carlton Chairman Mick Garton told us “We really don’t want to do this, financially this is another nightmare for us, but we owe it to everyone connected with the club to try and get this game played and I am grateful to Radford and in particular to our secretary Trevor for the work he is putting into try and find alternative venues”
“It is all down to Tuesday’s weather now, but Stoke Lane in places is extremely waterlogged, we could not have hosted this fixture on Tuesday sadly, we have also been unable to host the annual Showmans Guild event at our ground which brings in significant revenue every year and Saturday’s game v Stamford would have given us a decent gate while a midweek game will significantly reduce that figure and again it effects revenue streams”
“Everyone at the club is frustrated at the loss of revenue and the potential awful fixture backlog, from players, management and those of us that help finance the club and I most certainly include supporters in that and I have made a point of ringing Supporters Chief Alan Murphy this evening to explain where we are at, but it is what it is and we will just have to see what Tuesday brings”
Admission to the game at Radford will remain at £5, £3 and £1 with the kick off at 7.45pm.
