BOATSY AND DAVE JUST LOVED DOUBLE MURDER FRIDAY NIGHT !
Carlton Town took a trip down memory lane on Friday night, all the way back to Christmas Eve 1981.
Those attending stepped into the time capsule and departed back 43 years and into a clubhouse that looked liked Tiffany’s Nightclub.
Great work indeed from Kelly, Sonia and Jip to take us all on that trip and the superb cast of six including the Murder squad detective, a priest, a playboy, a drunk, a glamour woman widowed and a lady in dungarees who Dave Hodgson was convinced was the killer.
Senior figures at the club, Boatsy and Dave had to be persuaded to purchase tickets for the big night, they were not quite convinced, it was their cup of tea.
They both absolutely loved the evening with Boatsy telling us “ It was right up there with any other night out I have had in a long time, really good, really engaging, I really enjoyed it, I thought the characters were absolutely brilliant, particularly trembling Trevor who sadly got murdered at the end of the night”
Dave told us “I would definitely come again, I was most pleasantly taken back and surprised, it was a cracking night and lovely food from Kelly and her team”
Chairman Mick Garton along with close Friends Greg and Bev Last was among those who sussed out the killer was the jealous priest and another close friend Alan Roome became part of the drama himself and was continually dragged into the story line, much to his bemusement.
In truth, no one knew what to expect, but it was a fine evening and the club are looking to announce their second event for February 2025 and all they need to do is get a few more bodies through the door to make it work financially for the club, something that should prove easier following the excellent feedback from those who re entered 1981 , a joyful Christmas Eve indeed, despite the two dead bodies !
