ANOTHER HOME DEFEAT LEAVES MILLERS IN THE MIRE !
A new year may have come and Carlton were boosted by an injury time equaliser in Monday’s big local Derby v Long Eaton United, but the reality is that Carlton’s home form has not been good enough this season, with only 2 wins from 11 games in the league.
Confidence is definitely a factor, with Carlton seemingly hesitant to pull the trigger when in sight of goal. They were the better team in the first half, but went in at the break with nothing to show for it.
Whoever got the first goal was likely to win it and sadly for the Millers, it was their opponents through Brady Robertson. Carlton’s excellent Dan Brown had made a great block , but the ball looped and fell to Robertson in the box, he was never going to miss from close range.
Carlton pushed forward in a bid to get an equaliser, but gaps were now appearing at the back and Edward Essel added a second after a fine run down the right hand side from that man Robertson.
Everything that could go wrong for the Millers on the pitch is doing at the moment and yes Niall Davie was a big miss for the Millers and with key player Arron O Connor also struggling with an injury, Carlton are up against it.
There was more praise for Joe Standon’s outstanding Match Day Programme (cover shown) and sponsors Gilbert Wealth were the club’s very special guests on the day and had an enjoyable afternoon.
Former Academy assistant manager Gary ‘Coach’ Hallam was back on holiday from New Zealand, but it was no sweet home coming for the former popular member of the Millers family.
Joint Manager Mark Harvey admitted to Carlton Town Tv that things need to change quickly, Carlton are away next Saturday to Stocksbridge and the following Saturday to Grantham Town.
Mark’s honest assessment is below !
