A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER INDEED AT STOKE LANE, HEBBURN AND NEWTON AYCLIFFE NEXT UP
Saturday with the help of the highly successful Bitcoin Festival brought Carlton their highest gate of the season as 331 came to Stoke Lane and helped encourage the Millers to a 2-0 win over Ashington in a hard fought contest at Stoke Lane.
There was over 100 in attendance on Sunday for the Memorial and Celebration of Ron Clarke’s life with people coming from various parts of Nottingham and the country and indeed from across the pond.
It was a lovely afternoon giving gentleman Ron a fantastic send off with a number of speeches, his favourite music, a cracking slide show and a collection for the “Switch Up” Charity headed up by Nottingham School of Boxing’s Marcellus Baz which raised just over £400 in cash (cover picture) with more expected to be transferred directly to take the total past the £500 mark, a fantastic effort indeed.
Boatsy and his family praised the club staff for putting on an excellent spread and their was a decent turnout from the Carlton Town family and a special mention for casual Dan on the decks.
Attention once again now turns back to the weather and on the pitch affairs and volunteers may well be needed again on Tuesday given the weather forecast.
The pitch is completely playable as we go to press and looking good after more work by Adam on Sunday to help get it ready for Tuesday night and being covered were necessary on Sunday night and again on monday night after a dry Monday daytime.
The Tuesday forecast is looking unpredictable at the moment and the club will be speaking to Trent Bridge again in the morning for a radar update.
All being well, Hebburn will be the visitors to Stoke Lane on Tuesday night, so a massive thankyou to Charlie Clarke for his programm Sponsorship, before the Millers travel to Newton Aycliffe on Saturday 13th April 3pm with a coach travelling from Stoke Lane and Millers Barn, supporters are welcome at £15 return and seats can be booked via Boatsy or Alan in the usual way, times to be announced shortly.
Boatsy can be contacted on 07907 064189
Thankyou to everyone from all at the club for the fantastic support for the club on Saturday and Boatsy and his family on Sunday.
