A GOOD WEEK FOR THE MILLERS, MORE TOUGH TESTS AWAIT!
Carlton Town followed up their point in the midweek draw with promotion chasing Pontefract Collieries by beating Dunston at Morpeth in dramatic fashion with Nat Watson, back at the club on a dual form scoring a superb volley in the final minute of normal time.
Watson certainly has a knack of scoring big goals against Dunston as eluded to in Alan Murphy’s excellent after match interview for Carlton Town Tv with Tommy Brookbanks.
The game had ebbed and flowed, both teams hit the woodwork, both teams received questionable penalties and the game was mentioned on Talk Sport prior to kick off with top non league reporter, the highly respected Mark Carruthers featuring for Non League Day.
The Millers remain 8th with games in hand, while Dunston drop to 3rd with Hebburn moving up to 2nd following their excellent 2-0 win at Brighouse. The other teams in the playoff zone both drew, Belper 1-1 at Ossett United and Pontefract played out their second 0-0 draw of the week at Bridlington.
Carlton have another tough week ahead indeed with an away trip to Cleethorpes on Wednesday, followed by another trip to the Noth East next Saturday when they play table topping and unbeaten at home Stockton.
The cover picture features striker Alex Hardwick who was also on the scoresheet for the Millers bringing them level at 2-2 from the penalty spot, a goal equally important as Nat’s winner.
Tommy Brookbanks was on good form when he spoke to Alan Murphy after the memorable 3-2 win.
