A GOOD NIGHT ALL ROUND AT STOKE LANE!
From Alastair on the cornet playing the National Anthem, special guest Dave Rogers who was simply brilliant at half time to the performance on the pitch of the players which was full of positives on Fa Trophy night at Stoke Lane.
Carlton rested their usual musical entrance for the players and instead Alastair played out perfectly, God save the King on his beloved trumpet as the players came out of the tunnel.
The outstanding special guest, Dave Rogers the Nottingham Forest under 23s coach was put back to half time and spoke brilliantly in the Howard Mitchell Sportsbar at the interval.
The big question however was what would happen on the pitch, Tommy and Mark put out a young side, a reflection of the club’s injury list and the lads didn’t let the management or the supporters down.
The workrate was phenomenal from start to finish, add in some nice football along the way and Carlton had a formula to win the football match against the impressive Hanley Town.
The referee for the most part let the game flow, which helped with the entertainment if not always pleasing the benches, Carlton missed their obligatory penalty before Kylie Tomlin swept home in the aftermath of great work by Brad Wells to give Carlton the lead on the stroke of half time.
A good time to score commented the Millers special guest at the break, he was not wrong and when Niall Davey added a well taken second after a great pass from Martin Ball in the second half , the job was nearly done.
Not quite however, Hanley had a goal disallowed for handball and in the last 20 minutes played some excellent football as they tried to get back into the game, but the Millers rearguard held firm with some excellent defending.
Positives for the Millers included the performance of the returning Tyler Johal and the first appearance of the season as a second half substitute of Arron o’ Connor following a long injury lay off.
Carlton’s reward for their 2-0 win is a trip to Lincoln United on Saturday 24th September, a little bit nearer to home than many of Carlton’s away trips this season.
A massive Thankyou to Tom Hughes from Aerocom Uk for his kind Sponsorship, he is pictured with his children and Millers Vice Chairman Barry North and guest speaker Dave Rogers.
