A GOOD DAY ALL ROUND FOR TRIPPLE WINNER BALLY!
The afternoon started with a feisty clash against Long Eaton United which proved a decent workout for both sides , the game finished at 2-2 after a late Long Eaton comeback as Carlton rung the changes.
The club have been unable to hold their usual presentation evening due to the Covid 19 crisis, so decided instead to present the trophys after Saturday’s friendly.
First up however was the 100 club draw and Martin Ball was the first name out clinching the £100 first prize.
The Academy players had by now arrived along with a few parents and Millers supporters and prizes were awarded to Jack Cockram (Players Player) and Dan Flint (Coaches player).
The presidents award this year went to Tom Maddison, Club Captain and penalty specialist supreme while the Chairman’s award went to Dan Goddard for all his hard work for the club.
The popular Jamie Huckerby received the Clubman award and the most improved player went to Central defender Toby Moore.
Alan Murphy on behalf of the supporters handed Arron Opoku the much lorded Supporters player of the year award and the Supporters goal of the season went to Tyler Blake.
The managers player of the season went to Club legend Martin Ball and he made it a wonderful hatrick on the night by also winning the ultimate prize of Players player.
Although it was deeply disappointing not to finish the season and be able to hold the usual stand alone presentation evening, there was plenty of banter flowing around and a positive announcement by Dave Hodgson which we will cover in detail in the coming days.
Congratulations to all the winners, but the focus now moves on to the Fa cup draw and the new season with Carlton making the trip to Clifton All Whites on Tuesday where some Academy players will be among those getting a run out.
